We decided to transform an old warehouse in our yard into something useful for us. The construction began in September 2008 and on April 29, 2009, the inauguration of the event hall, where we gather with all the community members, took place.
The construction and arrangement of the hall involved several steps, carried out with the help of construction companies and Hercules volunteers: clearing of the old building, demolishing metal walls and reinforcing the metal structure, sewer works, pouring the concrete floor, architectural work and installation of windows and doors, interior construction works: painting, laying linoleum, tiles, sanitary fixtures, gas connection, installation of the heating system, exterior landscaping: setting up the alley, building a fence, and arranging the outdoor space with trees and flowers.
Now fully arranged, the hall can be rented for weddings, baptisms, reunions, conferences or sports competitions. This way, our income can be supplemented and reinvested in the well-being of our beneficiaries.
NESsT Romania organized the Social Enterprises competition, aiming to support the development of social enterprises in Romania.
54 NGOs applied in the competition to assess the feasibility of launching or expanding a social enterprise. From these, NESsT selected 25 organizations, which were involved in a process of gradual development, enhancing their ability to develop and implement specific activities of social enterprises.
The competition ended in October 2010. NESsT awarded five financial prizes to recognize the best business plans. The winning organizations received a grant of 10,000 USD each from NESsT and support in implementing their business.
Hercules Association is one of the 5 organizations in the country selected as winners and the business plan created for the Hercules Event Hall was recognized as a feasible plan. Winning the competition represents an important step for the financial sustainability of the Association.
