BufKids. The World Opens Up

The BufKids Day Center becomes an online and offline educational center for vulnerable and smart children from Buftea.

The Hercules Association launches ,,BufKids. The World Opens Up”, a project implemented within the BufKids Day Center in Buftea, through which 50 vulnerable children will have free access to online and offline education, one meal per day, psychological counseling, and—if the pandemic allows—socialization activities.

The funding received for this project will help the Hercules Association in its effort to equip a digital classroom with modern technology, which will be accessible to the children selected as beneficiaries of the BufKids Center: children aged 6–14 from Schools No. 3 and 4 in Buftea, at risk of school dropout and coming from families with material and social difficulties.

The classroom and its equipment will benefit children who do not have technology at home and cannot access online school. Additionally, by using the digital classroom equipment, children will be able to participate in other educational workshops offered by Hercules Association partners or volunteers who wish to help BufKids children remotely: online homework assistance, organizing workshops on various topics of interest for children.

So far, the Hercules Association has established a partnership with the Rubik Association, through which, once the digital classroom is equipped, children and teachers from BufKids will participate in online workshops organized by the teachers of Rubik School.

The Hercules Association project will involve not only the children but also their teachers—through digital education courses—and their parents (parenting education, psychological counseling).

In addition to after-school support, homework help, and both online and offline education, the BufKids Centre, the only day center in Buftea, provides children from the Buciumeni and Flamanzeni neighborhoods, Buftea city: psychological counseling, a hot meal every day and opportunities for socialization and recreation in a sanitary and safe environment.
