The ,,Stay in School” scholarship project has come to an end

This month, the ,,Stay in School" scholarship project comes to an end, a project that benefited all 50 children from the Hercules Center over the past year. The big and small scholars from the Hercules Day Center thank the Vodafone Romania Foundation for their help and we, the Hercules Association, thank the partner foundation for 7 years of friendship, mutual respect, and beautiful projects carried out together.

What did the ,,Stay in School" scholarships mean for the children at Hercules? Surely, the money they received monthly helped the children have fewer material worries and gave them an extra motivation to choose school over other concerns. The children went to school every day with their heads held high; better dressed, equipped, and fed. But above all, the younger ones felt responsible, learned to manage their monthly scholarship, and prioritized urgent needs in order to use the money they received as efficiently as possible.

Our children used the scholarships exclusively to buy school supplies, books for school, clothing, and footwear. There were cases when they chose to use their scholarships to pay for food for the whole family or for daily transportation to school. The parents were more motivated to send their children daily to the Hercules Center (regular attendance was a condition for receiving the scholarship), so the children fully benefited from the services we offer for free: two healthy meals at the cafeteria, after-school program and homework help, counseling, IT courses, reading clubs, debate or arts & crafts, internet access and access to the library.
